‘B’ sample confirms Clemson DT Lawrence out of playoffs … Clemson got the bad word yesterday that star junior DT Dexter Lawrence, along with two others, will not play in Saturday’s national semi-final against Notre Dame after failing drug tests. Minute traces of ostarine, a banned substance, were found in the systems of all three players last week and the school was awaiting the results of follow-up “B samples” to confirm the original results. Lawrence, who continues to maintain his innocence and is reportedly seeking legal advice, would face a one-year ban from college football were he sticking with school, but was already expected to enter the upcoming draft where he is projected to be a first round pick. And while the failed test isn’t likely to have a major impact on Lawrence’s ultimate draft grade, he will have some explaining to do at pre-draft interviews.
