No surprise here, but there was a good crowd at the Auburn pro day. Most were there likely to watch RB Kerryon Johnson run the 40 after he opted not to run at the combine. Johnson’s pro day run was okay as he was timed unofficially in 4.54 seconds which would have been in the top ten at the combine, but he was probably hoping for something under 4.5. For the record, Johnson had terrific combine leaps of 40-inches in vertical and 10-6 in the long jump, while his shuttle time was just average. On the other hand, ER Jeff Holland who ran (4.79) didn’t jump at the combine had average leaps of 31.5 in the vertical and 9-10 in the long jump. Among former Tigers not at the combine, C Austin Golson, who measured in at 6-5, 304, had a strong workout as he had a very good 5.20 40 clocking along with 27 reps in the bench press. OT Darius James, who will likely have to kick inside to have a hope at the next level, measured in at 6-4.5, 327 and had 30 BP reps, along with a 5.35 40 clocking. SS Tray Matthews (6-0.5, 213) also was solid with a 4.54 40 clocking along with 22 reps in the BP and leaps of 35.5 in the vertical and 10-0 in the long jump. MLB Tre Williams (6-2, 236) had a 4.75 forty time, managed 21 reps in the BP and had jumps of 34.5 in the vertical and 9-10 in the long jump. Here are the numbers from the Auburn pro day.
