Are Texans coming off QB at #2

April 14, 2023

Are Texans coming off QB at #2??? … With less than two weeks to go until the start of the 2023 draft, the one thing it appears one can take to the bank is that Carolina will almost assuredly be taking Alabama QB Bryce Young with the first pick overall. However, after that it looks like all bets are off. There are even rumblings around the league that there is no guarantee that Houston will be taking a QB with the second pick. The Texans aren’t saying much themselves, but there are whispers that while they also really like Young, they are less than enamored with the other top QB prospects including CJ Stroud of Ohio State. The Texans also reportedly really like Alabama DE Will Anderson who has re-emerged as the consensus top non-QB in this year’s draft class. There is also some speculation that if the Texans were to stay at #2 and take Anderson, they could look to trade back up into the top ten – they also have the 12th pick – and grab a QB at that point, but that just doesn’t sound like a rather convoluted approach to the most important position on an NFL team.
