8th round off and running … As noted at the end of the 7th round on Saturday evening, the draft doesn’t end with Mr. Irrelevant as NFL teams scramble to sign the best available undrafted players. Indeed, most teams will have started reaching out to their prime targets even before the draft itself was done. and most will have come to terms with the guys they are going to sign. And some teams have already announced their undrafted rookie classes, although many wait until after their rookie mini-camps over the next couple of weekends. And while it still maybe awhile until all UDFA rookie classes are announced a lot of names have leaked out either from the players or their agents themselves or from the teams. For example, former Nevada QB Carson Strong, the top-rated player left on the updated GBN Big Board when the draft ended, has reportedly agreed to terms with Philadelphia, which already had one of the best draft hauls this year. Strong, though, didn’t come cheaply as the Eagles guaranteed him $300,000 in salary this year, along with a $20,000 bonus, the most ever for an undrafted rookie. For good measure, the Eagles also signed former Clemson CB Mario Goodrich, while Miami has inked Arizona State OT Kellen Diesch and Oregon safety Verone McKinley, who were both top 5 on our undrafted list. Elsewhere, New Orleans got three good ones in Baylor RB Abram Smith, Oregon LB Nephi Sewell and Auburn safety. Same for the Giants who were able to come to terms with Michigan DT Chris Hinton, Oklahoma FB Jeremiah Hall and Kentucky safety Yusuf Corker, while Dallas signed former Boston College C Alec Lindstrom and Buffalo inked former Texas A&M TE Jalen Wydermeyer.
