49ers Lynch likes draft QBs

March 2, 2017

Niners’ Lynch likes draft QBs … This year’s crop of QBs available for the 2017 draft hasn’t gotten much love from NFL’s scouting community. One dissenter, though, appears to be rookie San Francisco G.M. John Lynch who was quoted at his combine presser that there was a lot to like in this year’s QB class. According to Lynch: “these guys are somewhat getting a bad rap. I turn on the film and there’s a lot to like. Lynch was particularly effusive in his praise of Notre Dame’s DeShone Kizer, whom he said “blew the doors off” in his interview with the 49ers at the combine. At the same time, Lynch described Clemson’s DeShaun Watson as a “a great champion … who has an aura he just carries himself with that’s pretty special,” while he also gushed about what he saw from both North Carolina’s Mitch Trubisky and Patrick Mahomes of Texas Tech. One story making the rounds at the combine is that the 49ers may be willing to take one of those guys with the #2 pick overall, even though, none may be quite NFL-game-ready and pair them with a veteran free agent. Stay tuned!
