Many scouts think that Hundley of UCLA is the 3rd best QB and has a great shot at being a quality QB. He will not make it out of round 2.

I agree he’s No. 3 but he may last until Round 3. Pigskin

Bryce Petty in the 2nd to Buffalo ? Why ? His arm isn’t that good and he’s a 1 read and run QB with lots of work to do. I don’t see it. They need OL, S, LB.

The biggest reply as to why is that the BILLS do NOT have a starting QB on their roster and they have to try to fix that. Pigskin

You have the perfect draft for the Browns. I would rather take Brown with the 2nd pick in the first, but a WR would be fine.

I’ve gotten used to horrible Charger drafts. We don’t need another. … we need a RG now, or at least an OT who can bump inside. I’d take Flowers easily over Peat, but I’m mocking Tomlinson for us in the 2nd. .. We’re desperate for an edge rush. You have Dupree available. I don’t think he will be but if he is he’s mine. Otherwise, NT Malcom Brown and get Davis Tull later … We also need ILB depth, but not in the 2nd. Take Zach Vigil later. We need that OG … Finally, the last thing we need is another 200 lb RB, especially a tumbler. We need a bellcow type. I happen to prefer underrated Buck Allen here in the 3rd. … That’s 3 needed starters. Anything more is gravy.

Mike: Good points; I believe the thinking in SD is that with Peat you kick Fluker, who has been at best average if that at RT, inside to OG where his lack of footspeed and agility won’t be exposed so much and in the process maybe upgrade two positions for the price of one. And because there is some depth along the OL one could wait until the second to grab a guy like Tomlinson, but always remember here that a player taken around 17th has about a 50% chance of coming in starting from day one in the NFL, whereas the probability falls to 30-35% for a guy taken in the 40s.

Totally understand where to optimize chances in draft success. But for the most part they take OTs #1, OGs come later. Same idea with OLBs and ILBs. I wouldn’t be upset if they take Donovan Smith #2 instead. But can either he or Fluker be depended on to handle the switch inside. . … I like Pigskin Paul’s mock for SD. Though I’d use his #4 + #5 for OLB Tull and ILB Vigil. We need their depth at this point. … By the way, have you heard anything on Morgan Breslin’s hip these days ? I’d like to give him a shot if he’s not done for good.

I like this for my Bucs also. A poll at Pewter Reort reveals the fans (71%) think an O-lineman at 34 is the way to go, & DE is second, at 27%. Cummings and Flowers represent good value, it seems (I am no scout).

Mike the Bucs have got to give some major attention to that OL of theirs. They need to use that 34 Pick on an OT and another for an Int OL in Round 4 or 5. The guys on their current roster wouldn’t even rank as a Top 10 OL group at the collegiate level. Then they wonder why they can’t find a solid QB. You have to protect even the best to win. Given the trade of Cassel to the BIlls that would certainly make sense. Now the ? becomes when will the Vikings rid themselves of 1st Round bust CHRISTIAN PONDER? Maybe a HILL signing will be the catalyst.

    Hello Colin,

Regarding Denver draft and your projection of Devin Funchess, WR/Hybrid TE, it simply isn’t a luxury the Broncos will have to use a high draft pick to replace departing TE Julius Thomas (free agency). Denver will need 3 new starters on its OL, and by switching to a 3-4 defense (Elway, Kubiak, Wade Phillips choice), the team will now have to re-tool its front defensive 7 to add a stud ML and bigger DL to play end than the current guys they have such as Derek Wolfe and Malik Jackson. Or, if Sylvester slides to DE, they will be in the market for a big NT as well.

In addition, receiver is not really a position of desperation anyway as Denver traded up higher in the 2nd round last year to select Indiana WR Cody Latimer, whom the team plans to start along with Demaryius Thomas (most likely franchised) and, of course, Emmanuel Sanders. Even with Welker retiring, they will be fine at WR. Latimer simply couldn’t get on the field last year with all the depth at TE/WR.

Denver can select a TE on day two or three of the draft.

And more of an opinion, if any team drafting in the late first round needs a pass rusher, they will be so sorry to let Nate Orchard slip to the 2nd round (e.g. Dallas)-dude is that good. Check out highlights of the game where Nate schooled Colorado State OT Ty Sambraillo.

Thanks for posting your mock draft.

As a Bucs fan, I like this mocker. Orchard was impressive in the bowl game (OTOH, I love Denzel Perryman), & I have always liked Williams. Good job spotting needs. I wish there were more rounds–my only critique!
