Titans

Reading the Titans tea leaves … Tennessee had its combine presser earlier to date at which time G.M. Ruston Webster and head coach Ken Whisenhunt both added credence to the notion that the Titans are seriously considering the option of giving 2nd year Zach Mettenberger another year to prove himself while looking other positions with the #2 pick at the upcoming draft. However, neither of the team’s chief decision-makers were quite willing to commit to Mettenberger quite yet and that the Titans will thoroughly evaluate QBs Jameis Winston of Florida State and Oregon’s Marcus Mariota to make sure the organization is set at the game’s most important position. In fact, it was kind of interesting to note that both indicated they have talked with Mettenberger to make sure he understands the process and doesn’t take any flirtations with other QBs personally. Meanwhile, the Titans also indicated that everything else being equal they’d like to add an edge rushing OLB to their 3-4 defense. And with the 2nd pick overall, Tennessee will certainly have a shot at several potential 3-4 OLBs in Randy Gregory of Nebraska, Missouri’s Shane Ray and even possibly Dante Fowler of Florida, along with 5-tech DE Leonard Williams, who is generally considered to be the top non-QB prospect this year.
