Hot seat in Indy

February 16, 2015

On the hot seat in Indy … When one breaks it down there are three quite distinct phases of the annual scouting community: the medical testing, the on-field physical tests and drills, including the 40, and the team interviews. Each team is allowed to host up to 60 players for a 15-minute interview. For most players, it is likely their first, and maybe only chance to meet and impress the various G.M.s and head coaches. And most players will be asked football related questions; teams, for example, may show the player some film of a play he messed on and asked him to explain what went wrong and/or tell them what he learned from the play. They may also throw some Xs and Os on a chalkboard and ask what he’d do in a certain situation. For a handful of players, though, the interviews can hit closer to home as they are asked to explain some off-field transgression. And for those players the answer may determine whether they even remain on a particular teams board altogether. This year is no different and GBN Associate Editor Pigskin Paul Guillemette takes a look at several players who will really be under the character microscope in Indianapolis this week in the latest entry in the combine blog.
