College Football Bonus Coverage

October 20, 2016

There are a couple of potentially intriguing games on the college football schedule this evening for those who aren’t baseball fans and are not enamored with the NFL’s Thursday night match-up as Miami (4-2) plays at Virginia Tech (4-2) at 7 PM ET on ESPN in what amounts to a virtual elimination game for both team’s ACC playoff prospects. Then at 10:15, #14 Boise State (6-0) puts its BCS busting hopes in the line when BYU (4-3) plays on the blue field. And there will be some pretty prospects for the 2017 draft on the field in both games.

And both games have prospects for the 2017 draft. Miami QB Brad Kaaya (#15, 6-4, 210), for example, is one of the top senior prospects at the position for the upcoming draft with at least some late first round potential. Meanwhile, Kaaya’s top target, WR Stacy Coley (#3, 6-1, 195) has second-round potential as do Virginia Tech junior receivers Bucky Hodges (#7, 6-6, 245), one of the leading TE prospects this year, along with speedy WR Isaiah Ford (#1, 6-1, 190). Others to watch in this game include VT CB Brandon Facyson (#31, 6-1, 195) and DE Ken Ekanem (#4, 6-2, 255), along with Hurricane OG Danny Isidora (#63, 6-4, 310) and FS Rayshawn Jenkins (#26, 6-1, 210).

In the western game at Boise State, the Broncos are led by underrated junior RB Jeremy McNichols (#13, 5-9, 210), a potential second-day pick this coming April if he opts to leave school early this winter, while WR Thomas Sperbeck (#82, 6-0, 180) and ILB Tanner Vallejo (#20, 6-0, 230) are later round or free-agent type candidates. BYU, which entered the season with BCS hopes of its own, but has struggled thru a brutal early season schedule, also features a top back in senior Jamal Williams (#21, 6-2, 220) who became the school’s all-time leading rusher last weekend, while QB Taysom Hill (#4, 6-2, 220) is a tough-as-nails dual threat runner-passer. FS Kal Nacua (#12, 6-, 210) leads the defense.
