Bonus college coverage … With the NFL idle until next weekend, the colleges fill in the Sunday football gap with a couple of potentially intriguing inter-sectional match-ups later this evening when Texas A&M plays at UCLA and Virginia Tech hosts West Virginia. Both games start at 7:30 with the A&M/UCLA game on Fox, while the Virginia contest is on ABC. And the player to watch tonight is UCLA junior QB Josh Rosen, a consensus top 5 prospect who could rival cross-town rival Sam Darnold of USC to be the #1 pick overall when all is said and down. Rosen has all the physical talent in the world, but there are some character intangibles that need to be ironed out. Meanwhile, other Bruins to watch include SS Jaleel Wadood, LB Kenny Wood and OG Scott Quessenberry. For its part, Texas A&M also has a legit first-round prospect in junior WR Christian Kirk, who’ll be in contention to be the first receiver off the board this coming April. The Aggies also have a solid leader in the secondary in veteran FS Armani Watts, but for the most part, A&M looks to be in something of a rebuilding mode. On the other hand, neither West Virginia nor Virginia Tech has anyone considered to be first-round lock, but Hokies’ junior LB Tremaine Edmunds is a good one with strong second-day potential, while WR cam Phillips, OT Wyatt Teller and LB Andrew Motuapuaka should get some late round looks. Same for RB Justin Crawford, WR Ka’raun White and OG Kyle Bosch of the Mountaineers. How well West Virginia fares against the Hokies, though, may depend on how quickly former Florida QB Will Grier adjusts to the WVU offense.
