WHO WE ARE:

COLIN LINDSAY: Editor and Publisher: Known affectionately as ‘Grumpy’, he became a New York Giants fan way back in 1958 at the time of their epic NFL Championship game with the Baltimore Colts. Simply put, everyone else in the small town in the Eastern Townships of Quebec where he lived was cheering for the Colts so to fit in he supported the Giants. He later started following the draft in the early 1970s, back when there was almost no public information on the players and if one wanted to follow the thing seriously, one pretty much had to make one’s own lists. He then started the GBN in the fall of 1997 as a complement to a Giants’ chat group he was part of at the time – hence the Blue in the Great Blue! And the rest is history.
Grumpy is a graduate of Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia and also did graduate work at Carleton University in Ottawa. He then worked for too many years as a social conditions analyst with Statistics Canada. He is currently retired and lives with his partner and dog in Ottawa.
When not working on the GBN or watching sports on TV, he plays a little golf, dabbles in chess and poker, digs holes in the partner’s garden, takes his grandkids to football practice and refines his napping skills. A well-rounded sportsman, Grumpy was a pretty good RB at QHS in Quebec City back in the 1960s where he had a career average of 8.1 yards per carry. He also played varsity soccer in college and as a senior coached the school’s junior varsity team. He was also the sports editor of the university student newspaper at Acadia where he also was the statistician for school’s nationally ranked basketball program. And in addition to the Giants, he has also been a lifelong supporter of the NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks, the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the CFL, any Canadian national team, Navy (college football) and Syracuse (college basketball), the Acadia Axemen and the Huddersfield Terriers of British soccer.

PIGSKIN PAUL GUILLEMETTE: Associate Editor/Chief Scout: Originally from New Hampshire, Paul fell in love with football watching the New York Giants dominate the NFL in the late 1950’s . At least that’s how good he thought they were according to their TV voice Chris Schenkel. He watched Jimmy Brown dominate the league as a runner and Vince Lombardi raise the Packers back to greatness. He grew to love college football, as well. The interest had been heightened by creation of the AFL and the wars between the two leagues to acquire talent. He had become an early fan of the hapless Boston Patriots as they struggled to succeed with bad ownership. ‘God bless, Robert Kraft’.Sometime in the very early 1970’s, now living in Wisconsin, he became a Packers’ fan. ‘I just got worn down by Packers nation’, he explained. Around the same time, he fell under the spell of the fascinating process known as the NFL draft. As the internet, and other electronic information sources flourished through the 1990s the draft hobby got a bit more serious. The draft luv was really fueled by the late Joel Buchsbaum and his work for Pro Football Weekly.

Based on some encouraging words from the Packers’ John Dorsey  at a Senior Bowl practice in 2006, Paul started his own website, originally called Paul’s Pigskin Place. Shortly after he began working radio with Hoffy in Fond du Lac, that name changed to pigskinpaul.com as Hoffy began to refer to him as Pigskin Paul over the airwaves. Indeed ‘God willing and the Bay don’t rise’, 2015 will mark Paul’s 20th consecutive year at the Senior Bowl.

Pigskin is a graduate of Plymouth State College in New Hampshire and in a previous life worked as a Purchasing and Transportation Manager in the recycled paper industry for 30 years. He currently resides in Central Florida with his wife Carole. They have 2 children, 2 grandchildren and 2 boxers.
